An
appeal for help from some friends in Denmark and Sweden.
"Dear
friends, Here is a brief summary of what happened at the meeting on the 2nd. It was Katherine from Animal Rights Sweden, ICC's CEO Henrik Theilbjørn and director of production Susan Munkløv and I. The meeting lasted about half an hour and was held in a relaxed atmosphere. ICC's position was that they'd never really thought about the use of fur in the past and needed to talk it over with their different brands. Not surprisingly their focus was on the business side (they frequently mentioned that they'd never had complaints about fur in the past). They weren't exactly unsympathetic to our arguments, but didn't make any promises either. What they want to do now is talk to the different brands (currently only 3 of 18 are using real fur) and discuss with their designers if and how they can go fur free. Then they will get back to us in late February early march and then we can continue our dialogue. I'm a bit skeptical, really I can't say that so for now I think we can see this as a positive step. What makes me skeptical, is that we were only able to set up this meeting after threatening to campaign. So I wouldn't be surprised if it took just a little push from us in the end. But for now we can just wait and hope. ::PLEASE TAKE ACTION:: If you haven't written IC Companys yet now is the perfect time to put pressure on them, by voicing your disgust with their continued support of the fur trade. If you don't have time to write a letter or e-mail (and I know we're all busy) I'd be more than happy to supply you with a draft letter that you can change according to your needs. You
can contact IC Companys here: IC
COMPANYS A/S I'll make sure to let you know how the meeting goes. If you'd like to be a part of this please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Best
wishes,
